WELCOME!
Hi, I'm Elodie
A wildlife photographer who caught the polar bug years ago, my happy place is the high arctic and in particular Svalbard, with its fragility and uniqueness, as well as its population of polar bears. Through my wildlife and landscape work, I wish to encourage people to protect this essential part of the world.
Over the last 10 years I have been to Svalbard many times, as well as Lapland, Northern Canada and Iceland. Greenland and Antarctica will hopefully be next.
I love expedition life, and my heart always leaps when I see a cold deck. I am partial to the winter pastel colours for landscapes, and the more mysterious “foggy light” for wildlife, but each season brings something different: colours, wildlife, midnight sun, northern lights, no wonder so many people get addicted to the polar regions.
If I’m being honest, not much could have predicted this path of life for me. I grew up in a very boring and not super safe suburb of Paris, and only dreamt of cities and nightlife younger, hence how I moved to London, aged twenty. Having not travelled much as a young person, I started shyly discovering places where I felt comfortable, ie other cities, and only later did I start wondering about wilder places, and having the confidence to challenge myself. I think it all took a new turn when I saw my first northern lights, and suddenly I knew they would be part of my life. I’m still in awe of them years later and can even be found tearing up quite often in front of a nice show. Mind you I also tear up in front of a nice polar bear or whale encounter. Maybe I’m just a professional cry baby.
I still love cities though so really enjoy being able to live in both environments, one super quiet, one super busy, but both full of life and lives.
