Moody Arctic

I love how lights and colours change so fast in the arctic and how, depending on the month you pick, you will have drastically different landscapes and background - as well as navigating conditions!

With global warming in full blast in Svalbard - it is the place that is warming up the fastest on the planet - the west part of the archipelago is now officially not classified as arctic anymore. The temperatures are milder than they ever were, making for more rain and more humid type weather.

You can spend days with grey clouds and no interesting light showing through, so when the sun suddenly decides to make an appearance in the background, behind the fog, or amongst the stormy clouds, I would say that this is one of my favourite lights, if not my favourite. The fact that it's usually very short-lived, and not often happening when you would want it to, makes it even more special when, suddenly, all elements align. Wildlife and great light: better not mess it up!

You can find more foggy pictures on the Black & White page, as black & white suits this type of mood!
